Symptoms are rattling noise or screeching, and the scanner with the lamp stays stock on the left corner under the glass.
The most common reason for error L1, is the scanner lock was turn and locked the scanner.
Look under the top section of the copier, front left corner , (above the base on which the copy lay when it comes off the machine), you will find in this corner a clear plastic knob, turn the knob clockwise to release the scanner, turn the copier off and then turn it on.
